Colin McRae 1968 – 2007
It was terrible to be given the news that my good friend Colin and his 5 year-old son Johnny, died in a helicopter-crash Saturday evening. Colin was one of my closest friends and it is thanks to him I have achieved so much in rallying.
Colin’s passion for motorsport made him the most popular driver in the world, and it is unbelievable that he is no longer among us. I am so glad I got to know Colin.
Pernilla and I send our deepest condolences to his wife Alison and their daughter Hollie. Our thoughts are also with the families of Ben Porcelli and Graeme Duncan, who also died in this terrible accident.
If you feel like writing something here for Colin and his family, I will pass on all of yours condolences to Colin’s family.

With the loss of Colin McRae, a great ambassadure and sportsman for motorsport will be missed. Stig Blomkvist,Hannu Mikkola, Ari Vatanen, Marku Alen, Juha Kankunen, Carlos Sainz,Sebastian Loeb, Petter Solberg, Marcus Gronholm. All great sportmans. But nobody has managed to sell the rally sport in a way as Colin did. It’s a sad period for all motorheads in the world. I’ve seen Colin in action in WRC, Le Mans as well as ROC. He was always so determined to compete and deliver a top result. I’m sure that you will be missed not only by your family, but from fans world wide. Hopefully another star will shine from your family in the future. Jimmy, Colin and Alistare has all given us so many exiting moments. I hope a new star of this noble family will shine in the future.

I am sorry for your’s and the McRae family’s lost. He was one of my favorite drivers second only to you. Being an american we get little coverage of the WRC, but I became hooked on it while watching both of you drive to the limited. The WRC has not and will not be the same without him.

it is hard to believe that we have lost the greatest rally driver the world has ever seen at such a young age, my deepest thoughts and love will remain with the mcrae family for many years to come, it was not without a doubt that colin influenced me into loving this sport and if it was not for him, the WRC would be unheard of. It is with out a doubt we will never see such a fine and fun/family loving driver like mr mcrae again.

having followed Colin for many years i feel a big gap has been left in my very passionate sport.Rallying has become a big part in my life especially since Colin was at Subaru.Now a massive fan of Petter and Chris and the hole of the Subaru team.Colin brought huge attention to the sport which has been a joy to watch over the years as Petter has.You will be very sadly missed Colin and my heart goes out to Alison and Hollie for there tragic losses also to the families concerned.R.I.P Colin and Johnny you will never be forgotten Darren Howells (howler) Wales.

I’m very sorry to hear of Colin’s death. My deepest condolences to both of the family. The man giving me the love for rally is gone. He will live forever in all rally-lovers’ hearts. The best obvously goes first, he will never be forgotten. Thank you for all great moments

I am very sorry for the loss of Colin, Johnny, Ben, and Graeme. Colin must have been a great friend. He had such a warm personality, and always seemed to have a joke or two at his disposal. He was such a great personality for the sport; someone who could be remembered for his behavior outside of the cockpit as well as inside. You, Phil, Nicky G, Beef, and Colin always put a smile on my face when giving interviews, which is why I love the WRC. One of my fondest images of Colin was seeing you two in your traditional attire; Colin wearing a kilt was definitely something I wasn’t expecting.
As a driver, Colin was absolutely magical. So entertaining, so inspiring. Everytime he got behind the wheel, you knew he was going to give it his all. He only had two speeds: stopped and maximum attack (to quote Tommi).
The world of motorsport, and the WRC in particular, has tragically lost another one of its sons. The sport will never be the same without Colin. He will be deeply missed.

I grew up watching Colin on TV of all the wrc events.. then came the games of His,and the official on board dvds presenting some of Colins secret.. he is the greatest rally hero to me and to all of the rally fans I know in Hungary. we are badly shocked by the tragedy and would like to send our deepest condolences to Colin’s Family and the families of Ben and Graeme. Colin will be greatly missed
