The Service Park  is open to the public from last Saturday and today  the couples will start the land´s recognition.
The weather´s condition is good but with some clouds that threatens of rain and the temperature is approximately  28ºC maximum and 15ºC minimum.
After long weekend of Easter we return house loaded with energy for spending during the rally.
We already buy the tickets to attend the first Super Special of Friday at the 18:45 hours in the auxiliary court of football next to the Chateau Carreras Stadium.
The winds of the rally are arriving and we are perceiving the roaring of the engines coming soon.
Some hours nothing more we have to wait!
Greetings from the Argentina.

Rally Argentina 2008

On Friday we are ready for gravel roads in Argentina. The city of Cordoba and Villa Carloz Paz are hosting Rally Argentina. Recce starts Tuesday, Shakedown is scheduled Thursday morning and the first car will be on stage Friday morning.

Rally Argentina is run through a varied landscape, with numerous changes of the road surface from narrow loose gravel stages high in the mountain to flat-out harder-packed stages in the valley. Although Mexico is the rally with the highest average altitude, many of the Argentine stages are more than 1,000 metres above the sea, with leg 3’s El Condor stage, 2,195 metres, as the highest point. The high altitude of the stages can sap the cars power as they struggle to breath in the thin air.

One of the seasons highlights is a rally car plunging through a watersplash in Argentina. Getting the right line and speed on approach is crucial, with all the watersplashes there are many potential hazards.

61 entries will be on the first stage on Friday, the only Norwegians are Petter and is brother Henning. 21 stages are to be run during the weekend. 348kms of special stage and 1271kms of road section.

Sebastien Loeb won the rally in 2007, while Petter had to retire with engine problems on Saturday.

Rally Mexico 2008 – result

Petter Solberg Mexico 2008, copyright STI

After restarting under Superally-regulations today, Petter ended 12th in Mexico and scored one important point in the manufactures championship. Petter restarted today with a 30 minute penalty. But overall Subaru did a good result in Mexico, as Chris Atkinson ended 2nd, his best result in the WRC ever.

The winner of the Rally Mexico 2008 is Sebastien Loeb. Jari-Matti Latvala ended third and Mikko Hirvonen fourth. Henning was in fourth position when he started on the final stage of the rally, but suffered a puncture and lost too much time and dropped down to fifth.

Only 29 of the 39 entered cars started in Mexico today, and some of them were under Superally regulations. Four stages were scheduled today, but SS18 were cancelled for safety reasons – too many spectators were waiting for the cars.

Next event is Rally Argentina, 27. – 29. March. Elda – are you ready?!?

Overall classification Rally Mexico 2008

1. Sebastien Loeb, Citroen – time 3h 33m 29,9 sec
2. Chris Atkinson, Subaru +1.06,1
3. Jari-Matti Latvala, Ford +1.39,7

Petter restarts again Sunday

Petter and Phil are restarting Rally Mexico under SupeRally regulations. They will receive a penalty of 30 minutes, but yet they can be fighting for manufacturers points. If you retire from a rally, you can choose to restart again under SupeRally regulations the next day. But, for each of the stages you do not cross the finish line, you will get a fixed time pluss a 5 minute penalty. The team also need to make time for getting the car ready again. Normally they have 30 or 45 minutes to do job, but SupeRally regulations gives them 2 hours and 50 minutes. The time starts to run when they start to work on the car in the servicepark. The team can choose when to start themselves, but the car need to be in Parc Ferme within the timelimit set from the organizer.

While waiting for the rally to start again, take a look at these atmosphere-photos from Mexico. If you cannot see all the images, go to the html-site by clicking the link on the top.
