End of leg 2 press conference!

To Solberg blant topp 3 er helt værst! Bilen er fortsatt bra, men den har jammen fått juling i dag. Prøvene er fulle av store steiner og hull. Blir utrolig spennende i morgen!

PS Acropolis 2008

Well – what a day!

We left very early at 6:30 to drive through Athens and onto the 1st stage at Schimatari. It was very hot + dusty, but there was a great atmosphere and the new car looked sensational. Then back to meet Petter in the Subaru hospitality. He looked in great spirits, especially with a lot of media attention.

Speaking of media attention, that included me beeing interviewd by a film crew, but after 4 hrs in a temp of 30 degrees I must have looked in a right state.

Wonderful lunch laid on by SWRT and then out to the finish of SS4. Got some great photo’s but nearly run over by Sebastien Loeb!!

Many thanks to Pernilla, Oliver and all of the family for making us feel very welcome, especially on the stages to support Petter. We both have had a fantastic day, but now a cold beer by the swimming pool is just what I need.

Shakedown – Greece

Shakedown Acropolis 2008

Petter ended with 6th fastest time at shakedown this morning. Chris Atkinson drove into 5th fastest time, overall a good result for the Impreza’s debut. Dust made it hard to see anything going trough the stage, and Petter nearly had to stop once – he couldn’t see the road.

The Acropolis Rally starts Friday morning.

Times
1. Sordo 2.26,3
2. Hirvonen 2.27,0
2. Loeb 2.27,0
4. Galli 2.27,6
5. Chris 2.28,0
6. Petter 2.28,2
7. Latvala 2.28,4
7. Villagra 2.28,4

Shakedown

Expectations in the air

Pressconf Greece 2008.

It was expectations in the air at the SWRT hospitality area tonight. – We have the same feeling here today as we had 18 years ago, when we first came to Greece with a completely new team and a new car, said David Richards.

Present at the launch were the President of STI Kudoh San, Team Director David Richards, Technical Director David Lapworth, Petter, Chris, Marko Martin and a lot of press.

Petter said that he will start off carefully and see how things develop during the event. – Now that the team has decided to launch the new car in Greece, I’m sure it will be a good weekend. The new car is better, and yes – I’m really looking forward to start!

David Richards also said that he knew there were questions about why they chose Greece for the launch – and that he, as a answer to that – asked him self why not. Later on David Lapworth said that testing can only bring you to a certain level, and after that you have to compete to go further. – That’s why we chose Greece instead of Finland.

Although Greece is the toughest event on the calendar, Subaru can look back on 5 wins in this rally. A tough rally will give answers to how the car is working, and give Subaru valuable time during the summer so they can prepare for Finland.
