Goodwood Festival of Speed 2008
Hi guys ,
I thought you would like to hear about my day at Goodwood this year, it was a fantastic day out! After an early start we arrived about 10a.m. just in time to see Petter go up the hill for the first time, Miko Hirvonen was there and it was turning into a battle of the WRC drivers.
After stopping off at the Subaru service area to say hello to some old friends, (lovely SWRT hospitality girls), we decided to walk up to the rally stage, (first mistake of the day)! As it was more like climbing mount Everest, half way up we changed our minds and jumped on the organised ride up to the top, (second mistake of the day)! Petter may have had his Subaru but we reckon that if you add a couple of BOS dampers and a bit of blue Subaru paint to our tractor and trailer we could have given him a run for his money up the hill! As it was Petter took just over a minute to get to the top of the hill, we took 20 minutes and a couple of crushed vertibrate!

At the rally stage there was a second service park and I managed to get some more photos including one of Colin McRae’s Skoda. Sorry the only photo of Petter in the rally stage is slightly blurred, I was falling over a tree stump at the time!

Back down in the main arena I spent a few hours taking some photos of some of the most beautiful cars in the world, in fact I took over 200 photos. Good job I have a digital camera! The noise of some of these cars going up the hill was incredible, the hairs on the back of your neck were standing up, and of course Petter had to do a couple of donuts going up the hill, the crowd loved it! In fact Petter was quite a hit especially with the people around the service area who really appreciated him signing so many autographs and meeting people.
For the last 3 hours of the day I was helping collect money for the Richard Burns Foundation a charity which has a very special meaning to me. This year all money raised will go to the ‘Make a Wish’ charity, chosen by the McRae family and many people gave very generously.
I left after 9 hours at Goodwood, my feet hurt, my back hurt and I was very tired but I had met some lovely, generous people, seen some amazing cars and had the biggest smile on my face, something I need at the moment.
Kate.
