Winning Tamiya Cup 1987

Petter Solberg, the winner of the Norwegian Tamiya Cup in 1987.

In 1987 Petter won the Norwegian Tamiya Cup. 13 years old and on top at the podium, he received a big trophy and, of course, champagne. – It was incredible funny, and I still remember how it felt. I had to enter several rounds before I won one, and was qualified to the final round. Already then I was so determent to win, and I never gave up. I was completely hooked on rc-cars and I actually took it with me into the bath, so I could clean it properly, says Petter. – Good old days, eh!

You can see it all on YouTube.

2010 WRC

The 2010 calendar is official, with 13 events on for the WRC season. The season kicks off in Sweden mid February and ends in Wales mid November. Bulgaria is a new event, but is on the calendar subject to FIA approval. Argentina and Italy has been identified as reserves, if a nominated round should be unable to run.

We can also expect to see changes with regards to how a rally should be organised. Today a rally is 350 kms special stages, while for next year organisers can decide anything between 300 and 500 kms, and a maximum of 80 kms between each service. A rally can be organised over 2, 3 or 4 days, with a mix of gravel and asphalt stages. Night stages will also be an option.

Next year could maybe give us rallies with 4 full days of stages, or maybe just 2.

2010 WRC Calendar

12. – 14. Feb Rally Sweden
5. – 7. Mar Rally Mexico
2. – 4. Apr Rally Jordan
16. – 18. Apr Rally Turkey
7. – 9. May Rally New Zealand
28. – 30. May Rally Portugal

PSSC visit – Finland

Photoshoot with PSWRT. Finland 2009.

Waiting for dinner, Friday evening. Finland 2009.

Norwegian members of PSSC travelling to Rally Finland 2009.

The weekend started with a Superspecial, and after 3 hrs of waiting at Killeri, we finally got to see Petter racing his brother Henning. A brilliant start!

Being on a rally means early mornings, as you don’t want to miss any of the action. Dressed in our new t-shirts and with Norgwegian flags we had a lot of fun out in the Finish forests. We visited Petter Solberg World Rally Team every evening, as invited dinner guests. Both Petter and Pernilla had time to chat with us, as well as the rest of the team, and we also had a photoshoot. And, of course, Petter signed everything we had with us.

It’s a shame that Petter had to retire from the rally, but I can assure you all – we never retired from anything! This year’s trip to Finland was the best ever, can’t wait for next year!

Regards from Karoline!

Petter Solberg to miss out Australia

Petter Solberg World Rally Team will not compete in Australia. With the closing date for entries being today, the decision had to be made and sadly the Petter Solberg World Rally Team will not enter the event.

- We decided today that we will not attend the Rally Australia. It is our opinion that we will not be competitive enough to challenge for a podium, instead we will use the time to prepare in the best way for the two remaining events, Spain and Wales, and also continue working on our plans for next season, explains Team Manager Ken Rees. – We think it is better to put all our effort into preparing for the two last events of the season.

The next event for Petter Solberg World Rally Team will be Rally of Spain, 2 – 4 October 2009.
