First day of recce here in Spain. Stages are the same as last year, so its not that difficult to write pace notes. Lunch break now, quiet picnic for two – enjoying Lorraines lovely food!

Petter Solberg World Rally Team is in Spain, getting ready for the C4 debut and Rally of Spain. 18 asphalt stages around the city of Salou, south of Barcelona, are waiting. This is the first event for Petter Solberg in a C4.
- I am so looking forward to get behind the wheels in this car. We have been testing for three days now, and this car is really great. For sure, I hope to be fighting this weekend, says Petter Solberg.
Rally Spain is the penultimate round of the 2009 championship, and it runs on asphalt. Stages are wide, smooth, flowing, and the fastest asphalt stages in the championship.
- Spain is a really though event, and the stages are fast. High speed on asphalt makes it important to find the right breaking point, other wise you will be off the road, says Petter Solberg. – There are no gravel to help you through the corner.
Rally of Spain starts Friday 2 October.

- Have a look at the new cabin my sponsor Hellvik Hus is building for us at Stangnessætra in Vestmarka. When finished, it will be a perfect place for us to relax between rallies, and maybe do some hunting.

Today I’m in Freistadt in Austria as a member of the jury in the Pirelli Star Driver Shoot Out. 17 rookies are competing to get one of two seats in the Pirelli Star Driver Team in 2010. We have been checking out the stages today, and now it is almost time for interviews with all the candidates. Tomorrow they will show us their driving talents.

Petter has done 8 rallies in a Citroen Xsara, and will do the two final events in a C4. See what Petter has to say about the season so far, and what’s to come for the next two events HERE.
