End of Day 3

Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson finish Rally Greece in fourth place overall.

Petter and Chris dropped to fourth overall on the first stage of the final morning of Rally Greece as team-mates Sebastien Loeb and Sebastien Ogier traded places for the Lead. Ogier moved into first place on SS14 after coming in third fastest behind Ford drivers Jari-Matti Latvala and Mikko Hirvonen, while Hirvonen moved up to third overall ahead of Petter and Chris. Loeb then took the lead on SS15 pushing Ogier back into second place.

All change again after service as Ogier retook the lead from Loeb on SS16, the second run through 19.42km Aghii Theodori where he was second fastest in stage, behind Hirvonen and ahead of Latvala. Ogier kept hold of the lead from this point on with no change in the overall top five of Ogier, Loeb, and Hirvonen, followed by Petter and Chris still in fourth and completed by Petter’s brother Henning in his Ford Fiesta.

Sebastien Ogier is the winner of Rally Greece and also took maximum bonus points for winning the Power Stage. His team-mate Sebastien Loeb was second fastest through the Power Stage and second overall, followed in both Power Stage and Rally position by Mikko Hirvonen. Petter and Chris finish Rally Greece in fourth position overall.

- To be honest, it has been a good weekend, says Petter Solberg. – For sure I was hoping for a win, and I’m very disappointed not even being on the podium, but that is how it is. I have pushed really hard all weekend, and am happy with the performance, but sadly it is not good enough. We also had a problem free run this weekend, which is good. The team has done a really good job. Will look forward to Finland now, and the two test-days planned prior to that.

In a poll by the organisers of Rally Greece, seventy percent of the spectators voted Petter Solberg their favourite driver!

The next event is Rally Finland 28th – 30th July 2011

surely now there is difference in cars or may be citoren racing changes some settings and all or may be they map engine differently for leg 2 on wards for petter, he surely was fast on day 1 and then what happened everyone knows so please petter check all with citoren once again thanks,

  2. They are professionals Mohit, nothing such will be happening I am sure!! But being first on Day 2, cleaning stages to others is definitely a bad position to race.

Well my small piece of advice, playing a bit of tactics/strategy when the feeling is good, is good for winning. Honestly, when I watched your driving videos on first day, it was just awesome! ALL THE BEST IN THE FUTURE RALLIES!! :)

I thought I’d be looking at Petter & Chris on the podium today but something must have happened. Petter said the “car was trouble free”…..”it has been a good weekend”. But today Petter was 18 seconds down but 4th on the road…pretty ideal starting position to attack was my guess. Maybe Saturdays second stages offered a clue? On the Saturday stages 10,11 & 12 Petter came in 7th, 4th & 5th. These were the second time over these stages so roads should have been clean – so why so slow driving a trouble free car? And on the Sunday stages the best place Petter got was 4th position. What happened? Why the poor speed compared to day one? Thoughts anyone? Strange…

A fan since Petter joined Subaru – yes that long ago.

fab rally Petter, Chris and team you proved on day one you can do it so keep it up just a shame the roads were so bad and you had to road sweep but that rally, im a big fan have been for ages and for many years to come aswell, go Petter go, see you in wales

I’m starting to think that Citroën has done some small changes to Petter’s car. He was flying through the stanges on the car on friday evening or saturday morning. Then drops on saturday, even on the second pass. And the same on sunday as well, could have lowered the turbo pressure a little, not sure but it seems strange that he looses so much on saturday and sunday’ compared to friday. I just hope that Petter is driving a VW Polo next year. :)

Doh IPhone is messing up my typing. Sorry about the typos.

After a promising friday just another disappointing weekend for Petter Fan’s. Petter, the difference on SS14 to SS17 on day 3 was just too obvious, what was the problem? I would feel much better with a drop out because of pushing the limits. To start @ position 3 @ day 3 is perfect to end up on the podium….????
    VW Polo for Petter!!

I think the ds3 private have only the first technical evolution .
    Keep going petter..

  10. TWRC says:

If it was really a trouble-free run, Petter wouldn’t have reported losing time on the uphill sections today… Let’s face it, Quesnel doesn’t want Petter to kill his Sebastiens, especially poor little Ogier… But on Friday Petter showed that he is still the old, but it was not up to him this time. Keep up the great work, but fighting against the whole Citroen Racing is hard… but not impossible! :D

  11. mohit sharma says:

petter can win so just check with citoren racing about all as, he you were leading by 50 seconds that’s a lot and then you lost all most 50+20+10 meaning 1minute and 20seconds how is this possible. Any ways go for even bigger attacks from now on.

  12. lee stanton says:

dont worry petter and team your time will come we are all still behind good luck for the next race from all in wales :)

  13. simon says:

It’s understandable not easy when Citroen (Quesnel) is giving team orders to PSWRT. Of course we know Sunday was not your true performance. Hopefully you will get a Factory drive soon. Politics of WRC does not allow privateers to win. Very sad but true.
