Rally Spain is over for Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson
After setting the fastest time in yesterday’s Shakedown, day one of Rally Spain finished all too quickly for the Petter Solberg World Rally Team. Unable to see anything because of the hanging dust caused by the cars in front, despite a three minute gap between start times, their rally was over 19kms into SS1.
- There was so much dust it was impossible to see anything, says Petter Solberg. – In a corner we hit a concrete-barrier and the wheel went off. It was not possible to continue.
Although it would be possible to re-start the rally tomorrow under supeRally regulations the team have decided not to do this and instead look ahead to the next event.
- It is possible to repair the car and restart again, says Petter, – but we have decided to preserve the car and instead put everything into the final event of the year, Wales Rally GB.
The next and final event is Wales Rally GB 11th -13th November 2011
